The fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world, responsible for 10% of all carbon dioxide emissions and 20% of all global wastewater.
The industry doubled its production between 2000 and 2014, exceeding 100 billion garments for the first time that year. In addition to the environmental damage caused, the frequent non-compliance of labour and human rights leads to exploitation, slavery and the violation of those rights in the industry’s production and supply chains.
In the eighth edition of the marathon, which aims to offer a space for participation, reflection and action, we join the Fashion Revolution movement to defend fashion as an element of social transformation with a programme focused on circular fashion and access to the necessary tools to mend our clothes.
