The 2030 Agenda is a universal, integrated, transformative vision for a better world. It is an agenda for people, to end poverty; for the planet, our common home; and for shared prosperity, peace and cooperation. It conveys the urgency of climate action and is rooted in gender equality and respect for the rights of all.
The objectives and goals set out in the 2030 Agenda are universal and affect the entire world, from developed nations to the poorest countries. These aims are integrated, indivisible and address the three dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental.
At this point in the agenda’s implementation process, we have a chance to move towards the construction of national and international development models in which guaranteeing human rights and protecting the planet we inhabit are at the centre of all political decisions. Whether or not we achieve this will largely depend on the approaches that ultimately prevail and the road map established to measure breakthroughs (or setbacks) along the way.
