Contemporary Film: Under the Influence of David Lynch
Evil doppelgängers, absurd detective investigations and terrifying parallel universes take over La Casa Encendida in November.
This month’s contemporary film cycle pays tribute to the director of Mulholland Drive with four selected sci-fi films inspired by Lynch’s signature universes and the creatures that inhabit them. Monsters, vampire women, zombies, doppelgängers and extravagant homicide detectives will be the true stars of the Under the Influence of David Lynch programme.
The Lynchian settings of these films, which premiered at the Sundance, Cannes and Berlin festivals, will take us on a tour round the world, from the Americas to Europe and the Middle East. Remote small towns somewhere in the United States identical to the famous Twin Peaks, the inaccessible and hazardous rural area of the Argentine Andes, the idyllic Austrian region of Styria and a dystopian Turkey will welcome all sorts of paranormal phenomena, magical creatures and murderous monsters modelled on the work of the great David Lynch.
