Pajareros 2021

5 Oct - 28 Oct 2021
Pajareros 2021

The birds of America that John James Audubon observed and sketched on his trip along the Mississippi in the early 19th century, the spectacular migratory journey made every year by the tiny blackcap warbler, the unique ornithological species of the Canary Islands and the home of the world's largest northern gannet colony are the main focuses of this year’s cycle.

We live in a time when rivers demand, more insistently than ever, that we be mindful of their waters, banks and biodiversity; when the migration patterns of birds are still a mystery, one that researchers are striving to decipher with modern technology; and when islands, as fragile environments, continue to call attention to their endemic species and the risks they face.

The four documentaries chosen for the eight edition—one Spanish, two French and one British—show aspects of nature and the environment that are highly relevant to the present moment. Two of them—Birds of America and Life on the Rocks—have never been screened before in Spain, and Aves de Canarias will be making its debut on the Spanish mainland.

Each screening will be followed by a debate with experts on the themes addressed in the film.
