La Terraza Magnética 2018
Over the weekends in July and August, the Terrace at La Casa Encendida will magically transform into La Terraza Magnética with its customary programme of music and cinema, this time featuring the cycle Carte Blanche for Gus Van Sant, a survey of the films that have most influenced the American director’s work.
This year La Terraza Magnética is getting an early start on Saturday, 23 June, with the first international preview of Gus Van Sant’s latest film, Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot. The director will join us for a chat with the audience hosted by Matthieu Orléan, curator of the Gus Van Sant exhibition on view until 16 September at La Casa Encendida.
On Saturday, 30 June, there will be a very special double session: a screening in the Cinema (Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles by Chantal Akerman) and another on the Terrace (Last Days by Gus Van Sant) to kick off the film cycle Carte Blanche for Gus Van Sant, plunging us into the world of this cult director, the epitome of radical, non-conformist cinema in USA.
On Sundays at sunset we’ll be able to enjoy La Terraza Magnética concerts, proposals inspired by the drowsy, occasionally melancholy, experimental and psychedelic atmospheres of Gus Van Sant’s films, ranging from the edgiest electronic compositions to concrete music, with an emphasis on diversity and the fusion of different music styles.
For the second year running, the July concerts offered at La Terraza Magnética of La Casa Encendida will travel to Tabakalera in San Sebastián on Saturdays.
