Galician composer, producer and dj DA ROCHA UM, one of the most interesting voices on the national scene, presents a collection of brand new pieces that continue and expand the discourse of his sound line in live set format.
DA ROCHA UM brings a series of pieces with dark ambient and experimental electronic music influences to carry out an exercise in polyrhythmic trance, from atmospheric immersion to abrasive ecstasy in contracting and expanding movements.
The rhythmic references of traditional, religious and bass music are all present in DA ROCHA UM’s work, as well as an industrial sound design crafted out of processed field recordings. During both the production and execution of these pieces, he uses compositional experimentation methods such as algorithmic sequencing and the incorporation of random systems, impacting the combination and degradation of the sound. While completing his plastic arts studies and research, DA ROCHA has forged a career as a dj and electronic music producer in Galicia, Porto, Marseille, Barcelona and currently Madrid, where he now lives and works. He has collaborated with the producer Howie Lee, artist Somadamantina and video artist Ana Esteve Reig, and his mixes have been broadcast on radios such as NOODS, Ma3azef, Radio Primavera Sound, Dublab.es and Radio Relativa.
