Fissures, day dreams and thresholds form part of the imagination of musical artist Ivankovà, presented as a place of meeting and reconciliation.
Through vocal mantras, repetitions and long-form compositions, she creates landscapes where minimalism, mysticism, fantasy and darkness converge. Her work has a therapeutic inclination that reinterprets New Age ethics and the tenets of deep listening.
Ivankovà is the pseudonym under which Madrid-born Irene de la Cueva conducts her research in the field of sound. With a classical background in violin and piano, she is a former member of experimental projects such Difunta Clava. Her current work focuses on the tensions and interactions that arise between harmony, emotion, and trance states as motivators of sonic perception. Through vocal mantras, repetitions and long-form compositions, she creates landscapes where minimalism, mysticism, fantasy and darkness converge. Her work has a therapeutic inclination that reinterprets New Age ethics and the tenets of deep listening.
She has performed live at festivals and specialist venues like LEV Matadero, Círculo de Bellas Artes, NTS, Human Razzmatazz, Curtocircuito, Centro de Arte Sonoro de Buenos Aires, SinSal, MIRA and WOS. She has also composed music for the cinema, fashion and performance, reaching audiences through the Paris Fashion Week, Festival Salmón and the Seville Film Festival.
Ivankovà combines her exploratory artistic production with her role as curator of the Eternal Recordings label, under which she released her latest album Mogut' Yun (2021). She also programmes events dedicated to listening. In her facet as a DJ and musical selector, she had her own monthly radio residence at Dublab Barcelona and performed at Razzmatazz, Flux and Bombo a Negras.
