Influenced by her multi-ethnic heritage, Masma Dream World’s live performances blend vocal and electronic experimentation, elements of Japanese butoh, theta frequencies and drums.
Devi Mambouka, known as Masma Dream World, is a multidisciplinary artist and sound therapist who lives in Brooklyn, New York. Born in Gabon, Africa, to a Gabonese ambassador and Singaporean mother, Mambouka immigrated to the United States at age 12, grew up in the Bronx and became one of the youngest voices on the New York nightlife scene. She promoted parties and DJed at legendary NYC venues like Son Cubano, Lit Lounge and Lotus, and curated music for Alicia Keys’ Black Ball Redux in 2012.
Her latest album as Masma Dream World, Play at Night, was released in autumn 2020 by Northern Spy Records.
