Muqata’a’s sets combine field recordings made in occupied Palestinian territory, drum and bass, trip hop, jungle and traditional Arab music.
Muqata'a is an electronic musician based in Ramallah, Palestine. He co-founded the hip hop Ramallah Underground Collective (2002–2009) and is a member of the sound and image performance group Tashweesh alongside artists Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme. He has released several solo albums on labels like Hundebiss Records, Discrepant Records and Third Type Tapes. He also composes film scores and has worked on several compositions for dance/theatre shows. Muqata’a has performed at numerous festivals and clubs, including Sónar (Barcelona), Unsound (Warsaw), Future East Festival (Berlin) and Café Oto (London).
