In Steloolive’s universe, the imagery riddled with codes and roads never fails to spark curiosity.
With over a decade’s experience as an electronic music DJ in Accra, Ghana, his constant explorations of sound, fashion, art and conceptual photography have cemented his reputation as one of the greatest creative minds in West Africa.
Steloolive’s work consists in navigating sound from various angles, objects, ideas and interactions, focusing particularly on how sound affects its surroundings. In 2018, he explored “the smell of the city in a soundscape” with Dr Katharina Fink from the Graduate School of African Studies during his fellowship at the University of Bayreuth, where he presented a listening performance and visual sample of his olfactory finds as an installation consisting of a glass canvas in the city centre. International fame came after he appeared on Boiler Room at the 2019 Nyege Nyege Festival.
