"Essay": John Cage

On this occasion La Casa Encendida showcases John Cage's installation Essay, inspired by Henry David Thoreau's text "On the Duty of Civil Disobedience" and originally designed for dOCUMENTA 8 in Kassel. Each day viewers find a slight change: a chair positioned in a new location, lights they didn't notice the day before... The apparent chaos that governs the gallery space (lights, shadows, sound, silence) is actually the product of a meticulous, premeditated, grid-based order.
