From 21 to 23 April, La Casa Encendida will host a new edition of Libros Mutantes/Mutant Books, the Madrid Art Book Fair. Experience design, literature and activities for all ages at this event dedicated to Spanish and foreign art book projects, with a special area showcasing the French independent publishing scene.
At this year's Madrid Art Book Fair, visitors will be able to discover and enjoy the finest indie publications, selected in an open call for proposals that received submissions from across the globe. Plus, the fair has a non-stop multidisciplinary programme of presentations, open workshops and musical events, including the Fanzine To Go publishing workshop and the Kids' Corner.
The Mutant Perspectives lecture series will discuss contemporary creativity in the fields of design, literature and publishing, looking at traditional formats as well as the most experimental proposals that harness the potential of new technology. To this end, the fair organisers have invited several special guests from Spain and abroad to present their fascinating work, such as Kenneth Goldsmith, Javier Mariscal, All Sources Are Broken and Heavyweight.
The biggest novelty of this year's edition is the new space devoted to French independent publishing, "Atlas: France". Here visitors will be able to peruse art books made in France and tour the exhibition Graphisme Now to discover the work of today's most innovative French graphic designers.
