Warping Canvases, by Rasheedah Phillips (Black Quantum Futurism), is an evolution of her piece for the exhibition Picasso: Untitled towards a multidimensional performative lecture.
The presentation by Black Quantum Futurism operates as an interstitial space in which Picasso’s variegated nuances and intricate geometries establish a dialogue with quantum theory concepts, alternative temporalities and non-linear spatial frameworks.
Reflecting on the nature of dualities, mirror perspectives, dreams, loops, and other phenomena, Black Quantum Futurism traces and interconnects cyclical, non-linear paradigms of time, existence and perception.
Black Quantum Futurism (US) is an interdisciplinary creative experience between Camae Ayewa and Rasheedah Phillips that weaves quantum physics, Afrofuturism and Afrodiasporic concepts of time, ritual, text, and sound to create counter-histories and black feminist quantum futures that challenge the dominant discriminatory versions of history and the future.
The exhibition rooms are maintained at a stable temperature of 21–22 degrees due to the conservation requirements of the works. On hot days we recommend you bring a sweater or jacket in case you find the rooms a little cold.
