6th Humus Film Fest Awards Ceremony

Within the programming of

Humus Revolution 2021
1 Oct 2021
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

The sixth edition of the first short film festival dedicated to the “garden and city” theme in Spain. During the ceremony, the shorts of the 16 finalists will be screened, and the prizes for each category (Fantasy, Art Film, Comedy and Documentary) will be presented. The audience will also award a prize to its favourite short.

The Humus Film Festival welcomes all perspectives and approaches to urban agriculture, whether amateur or professional, from surrealist or poetic visions to more humorous or realistic scenarios.

Urban kitchen gardens have become one of the most creative and innovative inner-city experiences. From these green oases, citizens test new ways of interacting with the public space, encourage eco-friendly habits like communal composting, promote environmental education, advocate agroecology, degrowth and the use of renewable energy sources, strengthen the social fabric of neighbourhoods and enrich the cultural life of the city.

This shorts festival makes a potent cocktail by mixing the hedonistic atmosphere of these green spaces with their most creative and innovative aspects and their spirit of activism. An attractive way to discover the urban agriculture experiences that are taking root in every city on the planet.

At the awards ceremony, the shorts of the 16 finalists in each category are screened and the audience chooses its favourite. The submissions deadline is 13 September, and the contest rules are available here.

The ceremony will feature a performance by comedian, actress and screenwriter Lorena Iglesias, who is currently developing a series called Millennials mal, starring an “ageing, hypochondriac, neophyte millennial woman”. Iglesias has been offering a different Necroshow every week since 2019. She also participates in radio shows, gives talks about ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) and mukbang (videos in which the host consumes large quantities of food), and contributes to feminist events such as Princesas y Darthvaders and Riot Comedy. Her style of humour has been described as “hallucinatory comedy” and “thinking out of the box”.

This edition, with a live audience once again, will take place in the gardens of Huertos Montemadrid at Centro Ponce de León, c/ Eduardo Barreiros 6. (The nearest Metro station is Hospital 12 de Octubre).
