Since 1999, many scenarios of violence have emerged in Venezuela, and within those scenarios there have been many victories and losses in terms of human rights for women and girls. Weighing up these contradictions and exploring visions for the future is an enormous challenge.
Guest speaker
Luz Patricia Mejía Guerrero (Venezuela) is a jurist and technical secretary of the Follow-up Mechanism to the Belém do Pará Convention (MESECVI). In Venezuela she served as director of the Public Ministry's Legal Office and worked for the Office of the Ombudsman. She has also worked as rapporteur for women's rights, commissioner and chair of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), a major independent body within the Organisation of American States (OAS) entrusted with promoting and protecting human rights in the Americas.
