2018 Environmental Performance
As an environmentally conscious cultural and social centre, La Casa Encendida of Fundación Montemadrid has had an environmental management system in place since 2007, which conforms to standard ISO 14001. Honouring its commitment to protect the environment and prevent pollution, this system is periodically reviewed and evaluated in order to identify actions that can be taken to minimise the negative impact of La Casa Encendida's activities on the world around it.
We would like to share a summary of our environmental performance results for the year 2018 with our users and visitors:
- Electricity consumption was nearly 12% below the average of the previous three years.
- We managed to reduce our water consumption by more than 10%, which is 7% more than the target we had set. We will continue in this line.
- Gas consumption was 14% higher and we will therefore take appropriate measures to avoid an additional increase in 2019.
- In the course of the year, we produced 766 kg of hazardous waste, up 65% on the period 2015-2017. This is a poor result, although it is explained by the fact that we upgraded some of our audiovisual equipment to improve its quality and reduce electricity consumption.
- We generated 336 m3 of non-hazardous waste, 11% less than in the previous three years. Thank you for helping us to improve on this result.
And thank you for helping us to keep on improving in general.
