Generación 2022
La Casa Encendida is pleased to present an exhibition featuring the winning projects of Generación 2022, a Fundación Montemadrid competition for artists under age thirty-five which, year after year, showcases a selection of the latest developments on the contemporary art scene.
The eight winning artists are as follows: Nora Aurrekoetxea (Bilbao, 1989), Christian García Bello (A Coruña, 1986), Pablo Durango (Madrid, 1988), Esther Gatón (Valladolid, 1988), Abel Jaramillo (Medina de las Torres, Badajoz, 1993), Mónica Mays (Madrid, 1990), Sofía Montenegro (Madrid, 1988) and Sara Santana (Alcobendas, Madrid, 1994).
This year’s jury members were Irene Aristizábal, Head of Curatorial and Public Practice at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in London; Juan Canela, artistic director of ZsONAMACO in Mexico City and associate curator of the Centre for Artists in Residence of Matadero Madrid; and Kenya Eleison, artistic director of the Museu de Arte Moderna in Rio de Janeiro.
