La Casa Encendida of Fundación Montemadrid welcomes the twentieth edition of Inéditos, the exhibition featuring the projects of the young curators who won this year’s competition.

Inéditos is of the few programmes in Spain that helps young curators find their footing in the professional art world by giving the winners a chance to produce their first show and publish an exhibition catalogue. Over the years, La Casa Encendida has supported more than fifty new curators, in addition to facilitating the publication of catalogues and the promotion of their work.

The two winning projects of this edition were selected by a jury consisting of Andrea Lissoni, artistic director of the Munich Haus der Kunst, Rosa Lleó, director of The Green Parrot in Barcelona, and Miguel López, independent curator.

The first project, LAS MALAS, curated by Núria Gómez Gabriel (Sant Pere de Ribes, Barcelona, 1987), is an exhibition that explores the idea of evil as a way of thinking and as a place for the compositional genesis of material structures, communities, behaviours, settings, taboos, prohibitions, fears and desires found at the core of every ideology, of every generally accepted social reality and its ethical and moral codes. Based on this premise, the show is conceived as a stage for the speculative material critique of the psychological tropes of contemporary horror through a convergence of cross-disciplinary artistic practices that displace the stereotyped images of alterity and their field of material interactions.

The second, titled Devenir isla and curated by Aina Pomar Cloquell (Palma, Mallorca, 1986), is an exhibition project that uses the concept of the archipelago to explore forms of interaction among groups and fluid boundaries, among identities, communities and individuals. By applying archipelagic thinking, the show investigates the resignification of ideas related to community, the individual, territoriality and identity from fluid, hybrid and ongoing perspectives.
