Libros Mutantes 2019. Madrid Art Book Fair

26 Apr - 28 Apr 2019
Libros Mutantes 2019. Madrid Art Book Fair

La Casa Encendida welcomes another edition of the Libros Mutantes Art Book Fair, an event dedicated to the most experimental side of the international publishing world: art books, fanzines, photo books, magazines, and a non-stop programme of talks, exhibitions, poetry, technology, interventions and music.

International publishing returns to the spotlight this year in the “Atlas: Portugal” section. After taking a look at what’s cooking in Mexico and France in previous editions, this year we're focusing on our next-door neighbour with a selection of publications, videos, installations and posters from Portuguese publishers, as well as appearances by different Portuguese artists, who will give talks or play music in our nocturnal hangout, Quiosque.

Special guests at this year’s fair include design legends like Leonard Koren and Oscar Mariné, as well as promising new voices like the Swiss graphic and type designer Laura Prim, designer Marco Balesteros, or the humour-laced proposals of the Czech collective Bros in Trikos and Aapo Nikkanen.

And since Spaniards are called to cast their ballots on 28 April, the legendary self-publishing workshop “Fanzine To Go” will present a very special election-themed edition.

This year, the Libros Mutantes book fair has a very special loudspeaker: Radio Relativa, Madrid’s experimental online radio station, will provide radio coverage from the heart of La Casa Encendida with the help of Futuro.Studio. Over the course of three days, we’ll be able to hear talks given by the design, indie publishing and contemporary art professionals participating in Mutant Perspectives. We’ll also take the fair’s audible pulse as we listen to participants and visitors sharing their perspectives and experiences, music sessions, coverage of the workshops and much more. Tune in online and don’t miss a single second of Libros Mutantes!
