Generación 2022

The Generación 2021 jury consisted of Irene Aristizábal, Head of Curatorial and Public Practice at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in London; Juan Canela, artistic director of ZsONAMACO in Mexico City and associate curator of the Centre for Artists in Residence of Matadero Madrid; and Kenya Eleison, artistic director of the Museu de Arte Moderna in Rio de Janeiro. Together they reviewed over 300 submissions and selected eight winning projects to receive a cash prize of 10,000 euros each.

The eight winning artists are as follows: Nora Aurrekoetxea (Bilbao, 1989), Christian García Bello (A Coruña, 1986), Pablo Durango (Madrid, 1988), Esther Gatón (Valladolid, 1988), Abel Jaramillo (Medina de las Torres, Badajoz, 1993), Mónica Mays (Madrid, 1990), Sofía Montenegro (Madrid, 1988) and Sara Santana (Alcobendas, Madrid, 1994).

The results of this year’s competition will be presented at the Generación 2022 exhibition, due to open in February 2022 at La Casa Encendida.
