A cycle of films, most of them never before screened in Spain, and accompanying talks on the personal, the political and territory.
What does the place we live in say about us? What is our memory of that space? How do we relate to "the other"?
If nature is a cultural construct and there are hegemonic cultural discourses, perhaps by analysing it from different perspectives we can expose the power structures that have shaped, organised, controlled, violated and marketed it through the ages.
"Stones, Ghosts, Animals and Goddesses" questions the notion of nature and its representations, as well as the identities, landscapes and images associated with these representations, while simultaneously straddling the boundary between past and future: the living and the dead, the animal and the human. The tools for this exploration are audiovisual pieces that range from autobiography and performance to speculative fiction and appropriationism.
Curated by Quiela Nuc, curator, visual artist and a member of nucbeade.
The films are available on La Casa Encendida's Filmin channel and the talks with experts from different fields are free and will be live streamed through La Casa Encendida's YouTube channel. They will take place at 7.30 pm on Thursdays, from 5 to 26 November.
