Old Joy, by Kelly Reichardt. USA. 2006. 72’. Original soundtrack with Spanish subtitles.
Two thirty-somethings, friends since their teenage years, are reunited for a weekend camping trip in the mountains, during which they talk about friendship, shared memories, the passage of time and their expectations for the future.
The landscape features prominently throughout the film. The wind and the Bagby hot springs in the Mount Hood National Forest impregnate every moment, every conversation and every silence, accompanied by an original soundtrack composed by Yo La Tengo.
