Lecturer, anthropologist and economist Jason Hickel examines the fragile social safety nets and the limitations of public policies.

He was born in Swaziland (now Eswatini), in southern Africa, where his parents worked as doctors at the height of the AIDS crisis. He has an extensive international academic background and experience in countries like the United States, India and the United Kingdom.
