The Or is an organisation in Ghana working at the intersection of environmental justice, education and fashion development.
In Accra, Ghana, The Or works in the Kantamanto Market, where every day tonnes of garments arrive, mainly from Europe. Practically next door to the market is one of the world’s largest clothing dumps.
The organisation’s mission is to encourage a fair circular economy, which it pursues through many lines of work: direct action on human rights and environmental abuses, educational and awareness-raising programmes to change individual actions, and research and institutional advocacy to steer policies.
Speaking on behalf of The Or Foundation are Liz Ricketts, co-founder and executive director, and Branson Skinner, co-founder and executive producer.
The interview will be led by Zaloa Basaldua, an expert in fashion upcycling and sustainability, as well as a co-founder of projects like the Central de Reparaciones Textiles and Altrapo Lab.
