Awkward Moments presents their new audiovisual show A Strange Time in collaboration with visual artists Ana Piquer Hidalgo and Pablo Miguel Álvarez Pelegero; and Dis Fig, one of the most exciting and profound artists active today, will close the festival with a session that rediscovers the thrill of dark noise.
A Strange Time plunges into the dark recesses of the psyche and out again to the dancefloor in a playful give-and-take between introspection and connection. This tug of war between the personal and the collective comes to life in a live performance with explosive visuals.
The Awkward Moments project is a performance art series that uses mixed media to explore the emotional, philosophical and metaphysical implications of the cycle of life and its eternal recurrence. Since their first show at the 2018 Houghton Festival, they have represented the best in contemporary and immersive performance art. The two artists layer interweaving electronic beats over organic instruments and atmospheric vocals to mirror the relationship between the tangible and the ethereal, fragmentation and order. This concept is further explored using multimedia projections of abstract moving imagery. The essence of the project is to capture the ephemeral nature of live performance and to reflect on various topics drawn from social reality, emotional journeys and new fictional narratives. Their first six-track LP, An Entropic Cycle, was released on 13 March 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, the duo worked on a series of audiovisual mixtapes that were featured in System Magazine, on Quarantine Radio and by the LIVE for Love charity campaign. In summer 2020 they released An Entropic Remix EP, with four remixes from their debut album. Awkward Moments also hosts the monthly radio show “An Entropic Hour” on OpenLab Radio.
Dis Fig, one of the most exciting and profound artists out there today, will close the festival with a session that rediscovers the thrill of dark noise.
