An immersion experience in the creative process of Nabi Yankey and Mawuli Quist, members of The Or Foundation
Representing The Or Foundation, Nabi Yankey and Mawuli Quist, artists and designers who work in Ghana, share their creative process with a team of five people over the weekend of the Textile Recycling Marathon.
Nabi Yankey studied fashion design and textiles at the Accra Technical University, Ghana. He has worked with various apparel companies in Ghana, including through his own production business.
Mawuli Quist is a maker, stylist, storyteller and founder of the DeFortyFive space and Finders Frames. He is an expert at upcycling accessories, especially hats and eyewear, from Kantamanto, the second-hand clothing market in Accra that receives 15 million garments every week.
He also works with craftspeople throughout Ghana to create objects that tell stories and explore sustainability from a West African perspective. Mawuli has a deep knowledge of the Kantamanto Market as well as traditional Ghanian dress, and he is committed to engaging the Ghanaian creative industry in a meaningful dialogue with fashion.
This process will be conducted in English.
