Chica Acosta presents her radio programme La Candela Viva live in Madrid. Delicious danceable music that conveys all the poetry and history of her two lands: Colombia and Venezuela.
Chica Acosta brings one of her famous tropical radio DJ sets, La Candela Viva, to the En Familia programme, creating an energetic and entertaining atmosphere in the Courtyard. Afro-Caribbean and tropical rhythms from her native Colombia mix with house and other contemporary club sounds at a session specially designed for family audiences.
Chica Acosta is the pseudonym of Mónica Gómez Vesga, a DJ and Colombian radio presenter based in Barcelona. Her programme La Candela Viva explores Afro-Caribbean musical roots, their connections with Africa and their role as a tool of resistance. La Candela Viva is actively focused on exploring women’s role as the messengers and guardians of this musical legacy. She has taken part in festivals like Sónar 2023 and musical programmes like DNIT at Caixa Fórum. This is her first performance in Madrid.
The session will be recorded and uploaded as a podcast to La Casa Encendida Radio.
The En Familia programme is aimed at children so all attendees, regardless of age, have to buy a ticket.
Adults must be accompanied by a child to attend this activity.
