La Niña Jacarandá brings her DJ school Sin Sync to La Casa Encendida with a workshop for children and young people aged 12 to 18.

Isamit Morales, alias La Niña Jacarandá founded Sin Sync, a DJ school in Barcelona, three years ago to provide a space and inclusive community for non-binary feminist artists.

For one day, she is bringing the project to La Casa Encendida to run an introductory workshop on electronic music. Focused on a mixture of Afro-Caribbean and electronic rhythms, the workshop will show participants how to select tracks and will invite them to experiment with a DJ set.

This activity follows on from the ‘CHICA for chicas’ project which La Casa Encendida undertook with the Bam Bam collective to enhance the visibility of women and the LGBTQI community on the music scene.

The workshop forms part of the programme of activities for She Makes Noise 2024.

Isamit Morales, alias La Niña Jacarandá, is a visual artist, electronic music producer and DJ. Her sound project encompasses a broad spectrum of beats that blur the boundaries between ambient, reggaeton and club. She is the founder of the (non-binary) DJ school Sin Sync. For La Niña, ‘Deejaying is like quoting or channelling the voices and names of different artists; a way of weaving genealogies into DJ set chapters.’

Her sessions have been heard at Razzmatazz, Apolo, Dabadaba, Macao and the SONAR festival, as well as on radios like Dublab, venues like Betevé, and most recently at Primavera Sound, Boiler Room and Musicbox (Lisbon).

    Target audience:

Children and young people aged 12 to 18.
