She Makes Noise celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2024

She Makes Noise celebrates ten years as a multidisciplinary festival designed to turn the spotlight on and give a voice to women and non-binary people on the electronic music and audiovisual scenes. This focus has helped to balance gender representation in the cultural industry and has had a transformative impact on the ground and in the world of festival and cultural event organisation. It has also provided a stage for presenting the most adventurous experimental and innovative audiovisual projects, and a platform for emerging artists.

From 17 to 20 October 2024, She Makes Noise celebrates a tenth edition defined by the diverse styles and latitudes of the guest artists, with roots in Tunisia, Peru, China and South Korea. The common thread is a love of electronic music and sincere appreciation for those who have made the festival possible all these years. For that reason, we are delighted to welcome back composers, producers and film-makers who have already graced us with their presence at She Makes Noise, returning on this occasion with new projects as a kind of mutual offering of support and development.

She Makes Noise 2024 also offers audiences the chance to discover international names like Xexa, bela and the duo formed by Laura Robles & Ale Hop, all performing in Madrid for the first time. And as a special gift for the festival opening, we host the only performance in Spain of the British composer, performer and singer Gazelle Twin with her show Black Dog. To close the festival, we have the visionary audiovisual concert of 33EMYBW accompanied by the VJ and digital artist Joey Holder.

Two workshops and the En familia programme with the tropical sounds of Chica Acosta and La Niña Jacarandá complete the activities, together with the contemporary film series that characterises the festival, this year featuring international stories which, committed to the present and adventurous in their form, channel a new feminist and trans genealogy.

The festival is curated by Playtime Audiovisuales: Natalia Piñuel Martín (music and activities) and Enrique Piñuel Martín (film).
