A favourite DJ at LA clubs, she’s famous for sessions that mix genres like electronic, rap and dancehall, and for her remixes of hip-hop and R&B tracks.
Asma Maroof investigates dystopian atmospheres through a range of media. Under the name Asmara, she’s performed and produced music for films and clubs.
The other half of the DJ and producer duo NGUZUNGUZU, she’s a member of the famous Fade to Mind label and collective, and a former resident at the raucous queer parties known as Mustache Mondays.
She’s shared the stage with artists like M.I.A., Kelela, Fatima Al Qadiri and Venus X, and recently executively produced the latest album by Kelela, Raven. She also frequently works with the fine artist and video artist Wu Tsang, with whom she is currently undertaking a residency at Schauspielhaus Zürich.
